Bit of a quirky virus related problem I experienced on a friends computer.
Basically windows will boot to the logon screen. Once you select a user no matter who you select it will say Loading Personal Settings and then the screen will just display the wallpaper. No icons. Nothing.
I could press CTRL + ALT + DELETE and load up task manager. So I then loaded up a command prompt from there.
When I then ran explorer.exe an error message came up saying :-
system cannot find the file explorer.exe
Checking the windows folder I could see the explorer.exe file.
To resolve the issue I took the following steps.

1 vs 100 lauched on XBOX live on 10th July 2009. I have now played 2 live games online but have yet to actually hear the live host.
I hear him right at the start but then I get a low bandwith message come up and dont hear anymore.
My line is 4mb down and 756KB upload, surely thats enough.
Anyone else heard him? Everyone I have spoken to has never heard him during the game.
Cmon Microsoft sort it out!!!!!! I know its beta but the game is crap without the live host being there. The game just have massive long pauses without.
Its usual practice to RDP to a Virtualcenter box and then access the Console of Virtual Machines. However today I had a customer where when they went to the console screen of the VMs it just was black. No image was drawn at all.
Restarting the Virtualcenter server and the ESX servers did not resolve the matter.
The solution in the end was to increase the colour depth of the RDP session. With 256 Colours the Console screen is not drawn. Never knew that.
I recently needed to renew my Xbox Live Membership. Microsoft charge £40 for a year so I was very keen to try and save some money.
I looked on ebay and found a seller for £27.99. However looking at the bottom of his auction there was a link for his website. I went there and he was selling a years membership for only £25.99. I took a punt and paid via paypal. About 2hrs later I received an email from them with the code. They send you a scanned image of the code. All entered on xbox live and all works. Not too bad a saving.
